Day 65 a note from God: Deuteronomy 8-10

If you ever forget the LORD your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed. Like the nations the LORD destroyed before you, so you will be destroyed for not obeying the LORD your God.
Deut 8:19-20 NIV

This is one of those troubling passages in the OT that leads people to developing real bad theology - the type of theology that has God seeking to "get you!"

This passage leads people to teach things like "God is passing judgement on America for 'her' sins."

Apparently, these people stopped reading the Bible after the giving of the law to Moses.

OT God judges Nations (one sins: they all sinned), but the Covenant revealed in the NT (and the person of Jesus) judges each individual.

God is not out to get you. God is in the interest of rescuing you (See John chapter 3).

You may have been taught some bad theology over the years, but know this:

God loves you.

Jesus died for you.

How you live your faith matters . . . today . . . and always.

That was the message in the Old Testament and the message is the same today.
