Day 67 a note from God: Deuteronomy 14-16

Do not set up any wooden Asherah pole beside the altar you build to the LORD your God, and do not erect a sacred stone, for these the LORD your God hates.
Deuteronomy 16:21-22 NIV

A clear statement about worship that we have seemingly ignored. By that I don't mean that place Pagan Poles in our churches to worship the goddess Asherah. Nor do we erect sacred stones to represent unseen gods.

But we have allowed other things to challenge our purpose in gathering for worship - that being to worship God and God alone.

We argue about the music - contemporary or traditional.

We argue about the seating - chairs or pews.

We argue about the way to take communion.

We argue about the color of the carpet in the sanctuary.

We argue about the images we place our sanctuary (Bibles, Flags, Crosses).

The reality is we have allowed other things to replace the central reason we are there.

The list could be endless.

The point is what have you allowed to creep into the altar of God in your life?

What is competing for the central position of worship in your life?

The law was given. We are free to choose.

But what choices are we making?
