I am often asked where I find my inspiration for sermons - this is one place. I believe God speaks to me daily and this is a place where you can look over my shoulder as I write some notes to myself as we journey towards Sunday . . .

Day 68 a note from God: Deuteronomy 17-20
The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses for himself or make the people return to Egypt to get more of them, for the LORD has told you, “You are not to go back that way again.” . . . . When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the Levitical priests. It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the LORD his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees
Deuteronomy 17:16,18-19 NIV
God provides for that which we don't even know we want. Before there was even a cry for a king, God provided directions for a king.
The directions apply to even us today.
Don't go back. That is great advice. Like the people in the wilderness who cried out to go back to Egypt, sometimes we long for the old life - don't go back!
To keep from going back, don't accumulate those things that will pull you away from God. Instead, take time to meditate on His word.
It might be good to be king, but no one said it would be easy.
Whose king of your life?
