I am often asked where I find my inspiration for sermons - this is one place. I believe God speaks to me daily and this is a place where you can look over my shoulder as I write some notes to myself as we journey towards Sunday . . .

Day 53 a note from God: Numbers 16-17
The Israelites said to Moses, “We will die! We are lost, we are all lost!
Numbers 17:12 NIV
This is a fascinating change of language.
The previous chapter tells the story of a group of Israelites, who my guess had the strength of courage created by more than themselves, challenging Aaron and Moses.
They wanted the same rights and priveleges that they had.
They felt entitled.
I am sure that many sat on the sidelines and quietly cheered them on.
In a moment their quiet cheers of self-entitlement turn to open cries of utter despair.
That is us. We quietly cheer for more in our relationship with God and then when faced with the reality of what that might mean . . . we realize how totally lost we are.
We can not save ourselves. We can not directly approach God. We need a chief priest that will intervene for us.
Be thankful for Jesus today. He is our High Priest. He intervenes for you and I with God. I know I am thankful for such a great high priest.
