I am often asked where I find my inspiration for sermons - this is one place. I believe God speaks to me daily and this is a place where you can look over my shoulder as I write some notes to myself as we journey towards Sunday . . .

Day 64 a note from God: Deuteronomy 5-7
Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.
Deuteronomy 6:5-9 NIV
In 2008, the General Conference of the United Methodist Church made it official - to witness is now required of our members.
Actually it has always been a part of our Christian faith. Not only a part, but a mandate.
Most often, the problem is we don't know how.
That is what this passage is about for me. Our faith should be so much a part of how we live our lives that it is what we talk about wherever we are. When you enter our home - you know there is something different about the people that live there - not because of the pictures on the wall (or the fish symbol on the cars in the garage) but because of the way the people live.
Want to know how to witness? Live you faith . . . everyday . . . everywhere.
In the future, when your son asks you, “What is the meaning of the stipulations, decrees and laws the LORD our God has commanded you?” (Deut 6:20 NIV)
In other words, when someone asks you why you live the way you do (which by the way is usually a compliment about your life) be prepared to answer.
That answer IS your witness.
