On the Way to Sunday .... The Good Old Days

Looking for the right church to a be a part of?

I was once told that if I found a perfect church, I shouldn't join it, because I'd ruin it.

Perhaps you can relate.

Finding the right church is never easy and choosing to stay in a church community is just as hard.

Why is that?

1) We change.

2) Church changes.

Why is that?

1) God is always working on us to make us make more like Christ and that will require change.

2) God is always at work in the church (through people that are changing) to reach a culture that is changing and that will require change in how we do church.

So stop your whining and be thankful change happens.  You really don't want to be that awkward teenager again do you?  And you really aren't looking for a church that does thing the way they did in the past.

So here is some good news:  There are some things in church that won't (or at least shouldn't) change:

1.  The Bible is still the Word of God
2.  The Good News of the Gospel still changes lives
3.  Small Groups are important - they were to Jesus, John Wesley, and they should be for you as well.
4.  The field is ripe for harvest, but workers are needed.
5.  Prayer works.
6.  There are hurting people in need of healing.
7.  God is still in control.

The message of God's people hasn't changed for centuries, but how we hear it and how we preach it certainly has.  The message remains unchanged, but be thankful that God is still in the business of changing the messengers.

The Good Old Days?

That's what we are living ..... or at least we are supposed to be ....

I'll see you Sunday .... until then keep living the message!
